Taking that first step to see a counsellor can be quite daunting:
Compounding this, you may not feel 100% clear on what the issue actually is, just that something doesn't feel right. Please be assured that not everyone comes to counselling with a clear idea of what is 'wrong' and what they want to do to help themselves, that's what part of our work will be about.
My work is non-judgemental and during our first session, we will look at what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to achieve. My counselling room is a confidential space for you to be who you really are and if you're not sure about what that looks like, that is something we can look at too!

All sessions are 50 minutes long and are usually at the same time, day and place each week. I recognise that some people work shifts and work away and will accommodate this wherever possible.
That's ok! More often than not clients tell me that, particularly in the beginning, they worry they won't have 'enough stuff' to talk about. Part of my job is to help you explore your thoughts and feelings around different issues and this usually brings about enough to talk about and more!
Sometimes people feel they don't have a lot to talk about and it turns out they do but they feel awkward discussing it. You may worry that it may not be 'serious' enough and that you are wasting my time. Let me reassure you that this will not be the case at all. It takes a lot of courage to be open and honest and you will also need to know that you trust me. Together we can build that trust and find that courage. I'll be right beside you whilst you do this.
You're not alone. Most people feel this at some point during counselling, especially if they have maybe grown up in an environment where emotions aren't really discussed. Often it can be helpful to look at what is making it hard to talk about it and this in itself can help you find a way to open up gently. I will never make you talk about something you don't want to talk about.
Sometimes people find it hard to talk about something if they are worried they may feel and show a strong emotion when talking about it. All emotions are welcome in my counselling room and, often, expressing them is part of what releases that 'stuckness' around being able to open up in the first place. I will not judge you for expressing emotion in front of me.
I offer counselling both in-person and online:
In person: I have rooms in Chislehurst, Bickley, Sidcup and Sevenoaks and can see people during the day and in the evening. I sometimes have availability at weekends. Some slots are more popular than others and there may be a wait for these. I can discuss my current availability with you when you have your free 15 minute consultation
Online: I can see clients online from anywhere in the UK and, as with my in-person slots I have sessions during the day and evening and sometimes at weekends. I can discuss my current availability with you when you have your free 15 minute consultation.
