Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to me at admin@mindfulmomentscounselling.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The first session will be about us getting to know each other and establishing a working relationship. I may ask you some questions such as what has brought you to counselling, significant relationships and about what it was like growing up in order to get a good sense of who you are so that I can work with you in the best way possible.

The therapeutic journey is a very individual process.  I’ve worked with clients who started therapy in order to address a particular issue, or to reach a specific goal and for them, a fairly short time frame has been sufficient. For others, who are exploring a deeper issue, longer time has been necessary.

Therapy is flexible because everyone is different. As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different models of therapy to best meet individual client needs and there’s no one-size fits all when it comes to timescales. I will work with your needs and will be honest.

All sessions are 50 minutes, apart from initial assessment sessions for parents of children attending counselling. These can take up to 90 minutes but I will discuss this with you beforehand.

Sessions usually take place at the same day and time each week. I do recognise that some people work shifts or have to go away with work and will accommodate this wherever possible.

As a qualified and registered Counsellor, I abide by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework and one very important aspect of this is confidentiality. The contents of your session will be kept confidential unless I am legally required to or if there is a serious concern around harm to yourself or others. Unless prevented by law, I would discuss the matter with you first.

As part of the BACP code, all work is supervised. Within this supervision your anonymity would be protected.

I have quiet, confidential counselling rooms in Chislehurst, Bickley, Sidcup and Sevenoaks. All have parking available nearby and are on a bus route.

Fees range between £65-90 per session depending on location and duration.

Fees will be discussed with you during your telephone consultation and prior to your first session so that you are clear on what to expect.

I have a limited number of sessions available at a concessionary rate for:

  • Those on a low income or unemployed
  • Clinical NHS staff, Emergency Service Staff
  • Students

If you do not fall under these categories but feel you may struggle to afford sessions, please contact me and if I cannot help, I can signpost you to local clinics that offer reduced cost sessions.
